About Us
Moonlight Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization one whose mission is to provide monetary assistance and other forms of support to those experiencing financial challenges as their result of living with cancer. We believe in assisting our local families through these demanding times. The time for us all to give is now. Because there can be numerous necessary expenses..unpaid medical bills, lost work time, housekeeping and childcare needs while struggling with chemotherapy effects, travel for out-of-town treatments, integrative treatments for side effects, and the cost of fighting and living with cancer.
Moonlight Cancer Foundation started from my own experience of reaching out for help and finding the ladder had quite a few rungs missing. Cathy Bacquet and I lead a cancer support group and have heard the frustration and despair that financial challenges can bring. I feel that people (adults) experiencing cancer and the treatment involved with it, often have little or no financial support and do not need any added emotional stress. Even if they have insurance, they are usually underserved. Too, many people have to sell most or all of what they have worked a lifetime for in order to get the treatment needed.
So I started asking friends if they would be willing to help create this much needed Fund. They were not only willing but also eager to help. The road through the IRS paper work is completed and our non-profit status is confirmed.
The integrity, enthusiasm, and knowledge revealed by our volunteers is amazing. I know that we will help many people throughout the years to come. That is why our tag line is "Life Support for Survivors".
